Workshop

Components of the summer workshop are as follows:

The workshop facilitator will complete the following tasks:

  • provide a list of possible projects for participants.
  • review submitted list of projects and teams.
  • develop project-focused section of workshop based on specific team needs.
  • gather resources to promote the development of at least one project.
  • develop and deliver content for:
    • train the trainer
    • Internet use skills - including searching and evaluation of material
    • project development - including selection of topics, selection of materials, and methods to integrate different technologies
    • assessment - including development of rubrics and utilization of existing rubrics
Workshop participants will complete the following tasks:
  • organize as teams with common curriculum interests.
  • complete a team curriculum integration project.
  • disseminate the project to other teachers and schools.
  • share their learned technological expertise with other teachers through inservice and/or mentoring.
Topics covered in the summer workshop will include:
  • using Power Point as a curriculum aid.
  • using educational resources on the Internet.
  • searching the Internet efficiently.
  • evaluating the potential of electronic media resources.
  • using html in the classroom (for those whose technological skill level makes it appropriate).
  • surveying Technology Integrated Curriculum Units.
  • developing assessment instruments.
  • developing Technology Integrated Curriculum Units.
  • training other staff members in the integration of technology.
  • additional units for college or inservice credits will be available to participants for a fee.
The workshop facilitator will review completed projects, assess classroom effectiveness by observation in the fall term, assist/advise the district in implementation of the technology integration project, and facilitate and serve as a resource for fall inservice and support provided by the participants. Software used for the project will include TrackStar, RubiStar, Inspiration, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Office 2000. Additionally, the Internet will be used as a workshop resource.

John Yost, with assistance as needed from the other technology coordinators, will also be responsible for obtaining equipment and resources for the project, setting up of the USD 203 middle school computer lab for the summer workshop, making sure the workshop runs smoothly and assisting in development of faculty in-service workshops.

The technology coordinators will be responsible for delivering the products of the project to other districts through the consortium's Interactive Web Site. In addition to preparing the grant application, Jim Banister will work with the technology coordinators to assure that all commitments are completed as described in the grant application.

Michael Kravets will be the liaison for USD 458 and Jeff Andrews for USD 469. Additionally, Michael Kravets will create a Consortium Interactive Web Page on which project information will be posted, including technologically-integrated curriculum units developed by the ASIST Team.

John Yost will facilitate the July, 2001 workshop and do follow-up work with the ASIST Team during the 2001-2002 school year.
