Shiloh Brochure by Brooke Bultena and Debbie MikijanisWed, Jul 11, 2001; by Debbie Mikijanis.Objective: Students will create a brochure based on research connected to reading, "Shiloh," by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor. 1. While reading, "Shiloh," students will further develop reading skills by researching content related to the novel. All research material is posted on the following trackstar website: http://trackstar.hprtec.org/main/track_frames.php3?track_id=74505&nocache=393566368 2. First students will research information about the author, Phyllis Reynolds Naylor. Students will write a paragraph including five facts describing her. This paragraph will be one component of the brochure. 3. Next students will research interesting facts about beagles. They will create a graphic organizer of five facts and draw a picture depicting Shiloh. This illustration will be the second component of the brochure. 4. Students will research the seasons for the game that Judd Travers hunts in West Virginia. They will create a chart including this information as the third component of the brochure. 5. West Virginia is home to many endangered species. Students will choose one to research. Writing five facts about this species and drawing a picture will be the fourth component of the brochure. 6. Finally, students will complete the brochure by designing and creating a front cover that includes an illustration, title of the book and the author of the book.
