Brooke: I chose to participate in this workshop because I am constantly looking for new ways to create meaningful learning experiences. Technology is a great avenue for creating authentic tasks which are centered on student learning. While I have always used techonlogy, the more I learn about its potential; the more I feel like my use of technology is only hitting the tip of the iceberg.

I expect to learn how to effectively utilize software as well as new approaches for using the internet. One of the the things I am most excited to learn is how to create my own website.

The knowledge I will gain from this experience will be used in three ways. First, I will develop a project that will integrate techonology with an a creative writing and novel unit. As a response to reading, "Shiloh," students will write a story and create an electronic picture book. I am also participating in an externship program through BE2 which will place me with the EPA for a summer externship experience. As part of this experience I will develop a unit of instruction that includes three components: career awareness, scientific process skills and technology. Finally I will use my new knowledge to guide my students in creating their own website.

My instruction will be brought to a new level through the use of technology. Armed with my new skill set, knowledge of multiple intelligences and brain based learning, I will use technology to put the excitement of learning in my students' hands.
