Linking Mathematics to American Literature

3. Bull Buffalo lost 1/4 of his body weight in a crash diet consisting of carrots, saltines, and soy milk, and then regained 1/6 of his new weight. If his original weight was 900 lbs., how much does he weigh now?
4. Fox gave his wife $6,500 to spend in order to make her happy. If Fox's wife gives 75% of the money to her Whale lover, and then spends $2,000 how much would she be in debt?

If 1/20 of the witches killed were crushed on September 19th, 1/20 were hung on June 10, 1/4 were hung on July 19th, 1/4 were hung on August 19th, and 2/5 were hung on September 22nd, how many witches were killed on each day? (Hint: First you must find out how many people were killed as witches in Salem.)
