Curriculum Standards
Question: What are the 11th Grade Assessment Indicators? Answer: Check out the link to take you to the indicators you'll find on the Kansas State Reading and Writing Assessments. This is a focused list that tells you exactly which indicators are on the test. 11th graders take the KS Assessment in the spring so these indicators should be mastered by that time.
Question: What is the curriculum? Answer: The curriculum is the list of skills, knowledge, and standards each student must master before moving on to English IV and beyond. To pass the English III course, you will need to demonstrate mastery of 39 curriculum indicators. To view these indicators, go to Kansas Curricular Standards: Indicators.
Questions: How is the curriculum organized?
Answer: The most basic unit in a curriculum is an indicator. An indicator is always written as a measurable skill such as "the student will use active voice when writing." Indicators are organized by benchmarks, and benchmarks are organized by standards. There are four main standards, and each standard is further divided by benchmarks and indicators.
Questions: Where can I get a glossary of terms and definitions? Answer: The Kansas State Board of Education has the official state curriculum posted at http://www.ksbe.state.ks.us/outcomes/communications.html .
