Standards Based Curriculum:
Basehor-Linwood Virtual School has aligned lessons, assignments, and assessments to Kansas State Curriculum Standards. This effort has been made to help our families focus daily activities on the standards and indicators that are taught at each grade level and for each course. You will see a reference to indicators and standards as you work through course and grade level curriculum. These references are provided to help you become more familiar with the standards and indicators, and to provide you with methods for teaching them.

Elementary School "Online Testing Expectations"
In order to earn a grade in K-6 core curriculum areas (Math, Reading, English, Spelling, Science, Social Studies), the student must complete all online tests available. The student's grade will be based solely on his/her performance on the available online tests. The student must meet the following online testing expectations:

Pass all Online Tests with at least 80% or better.

If the student earns a score below 80% on an online test, he/she is expected to retake that particular test or quiz. The two test scores will then be averaged. The highest averaged score possible will be an 80%. This gives the student the opportunity to master the material at a higher level, and receive a better test score through additional review of the content. The student will be expected to use test retaking opportunities appropriately.

If the student has not met 80% mastery of the material after two test attempts, we would not encourage continued retaking of the test or quiz. Additional support can be sought through the grade level support staff.

If you have any questions please contact Brenda DeGroot or Nicole Williams at (913) 724-1727

This is a dynamic page that is constantly being changed and updated. Each week I will give my new3: weekly objectives that I am using in my regular First Grade classroom. Contained in my overall weekly lesson objectives are direct links to all tests, reading lessons, spelling words, and , These tests and activities may also be found under the various curricular navigational bars to the left of my home page. For example, if you would go to the Math navigational bar, you would find the specific math objectives taught in First Grade with the text pages to be used to teach those objectives. The chapter tests for these objectives are also included. Many other math activities, timed tests, state standards, and enrichment may also be found by using this Math navigational bar. Under the Communication Arts navigational bar you will find detailed explanations for reading, english, and spelling.

For those students, parents, or teachers who want to go slower or faster than I am going in my regular classroom the entire year's objectives may be found by going to the left side of my home page and clicking on the Weekly Lessons navigational bar. I have also included a Suggested Course Timeline to give you further information as to where your child should be at a certain time of year.
